I never set out to dive deep into social media.
But then the writers’ strike happened.

What started as a way to fill a creative void turned into something much more — a period of unexpected learning, reflection, and growth. I now realize social media has played a bigger role in my personal development than I ever imagined.

What I Found Was Surprising

I stumbled into a wellspring of creativity and imagination. People were building and sharing incredible things — not for attention, but out of genuine passion. I didn’t just see content. I saw people — and the ideas, struggles, and breakthroughs they were willing to share.

There’s something powerful about watching someone overcome adversity — even if you don’t know them personally. For a moment, you get to share in their journey. And that connection? It stays with you.

A Different Kind of Education

Yes, there’s both good and bad online. But even the difficult moments became teachers for me.

I learned to be more patient.
To extend more love.
To receive encouragement, even on hard days.
And to grow—quietly, steadily—because of it.

It turns out, people have a lot more to offer than we often give them credit for.

What Social Media Gave Me

More than anything, I’ve grown.
Not just in what I know, but in how I see people. How I see myself.

Without social media, I may never have uncovered some of the clarity, courage, or creative momentum I’ve found. I might not have taken the leap to live the way I’m living now. It helped me unlock parts of myself I hadn’t seen clearly before.

It’s easy to criticize platforms like TikTok or Instagram. But for me, they’ve been a gift — a mirror, a mentor, and a path forward.

I’m not saying it’s perfect. I’m saying: if you look for the good, you’ll find it.
And I’m thankful I did.
